Knitting Rolls

After an evening of ironing and pinning, I fianlly have somethings to show for my hard work (besides the iron burn on my poor finger)! I made two knitting roll thingies. I've wanted one for myself for a very long time. And of course I made one as a present (for an unsuspecting woman who will find out on Saturday). Here is one roll rolled.

The second one (mine) is the opposite color scheme.

Now, I know it's hard to tell, but besides the colors there is another slight difference. The second one has eight slots in the bottom fabric as well as the top fabric (for double pointed needles). The first has eight slots in the top for straight needles, but only four slots on the bottom for knitting accessories. Is that impractical? Should both have eight slots? Any feedback before the gift is given would be appreciated!
