Winter Wonderland

After much anticipation and training, dad and I woke up early this morning to be with 6,998 like minded individuals in running the 1/2 marathon in Seattle. Through the rain, cold and puddles, we survived 13.1 miles and managed to do it in under 2 hours (exact time will be bragged about later). Since my goal was 2 hours, I was very happy. Also, I managed to complete yet another running goal by beating my dad in the last few seconds. Here is the photographic proof:
And here we are after we finished, with our finishing metals on, of course! After entertaining my parents for a few more hours, I took a nap and woke up to a true winter scene. I'm sure those of you from snowier places won't be impressed, but it doesn't snow in Seattle! Considering most of the city is under 500 feet, it's no wonder that people are excited about this measly amount of snow (it's doubled since the picture was taken, but I can't go run out every 10 minutes to update you!). Oh, and yes, this sweater was a deal at $20 at Old Navy this weekend.

Okay, finally, I have some knitting to show you. I whipped out a hat last week with leftover scarf yarn from mom's Christmas scarf last year. Look closely to notice the pony tail coming out of the pony tail hole in the back of the hat. It's a tiny bit too short, but I literally had 10 inches of yarn left over when I was all done.
I heart these socks and want to make a pair for every woman I know! Let me know if you're interested and I'll put your name in the pool. They're from a Debbie Bliss pattern (from her Home book), and are knit with Baby Cashmerino yarn. They are delicious, warm, and adorable. If I'm not careful, I am going to buy my yarn store out of all of this yarn!

Congrats on finishing that half-marathon in spite of the rain and the cold! The hat and those socks are super-cute.

Congrats on completing the marathon! You are crazy yo!

I'm hoping the Jingle Bell run isn't as 'wintery' as this race!
