Shopping Barganza

Hubbie and I are going on vacation in just over a week for a six day cruise. One of the packing requirements is a suit jacket for the formal dinner. Hubbie has many strengths, and outfits for many social settings. Unfortunately, formal wear is not on his radar. We started our shopping spree at a thrift store, because I naively thought that it would be no problem to find a stylish jacket that fit him for under $30. Case in point: these $3 pants that I found while we were there.

I'm strangely short and have a super hard time finding pants that fit, but with a little patience and $2.99 plus tax, no problem. Why isn't finding a suit coat this easy?

Obviously we had no luck at the thrift store, so we headed to Macy's (where I still thought a suit for $100 was totally possible). Hubbie was fitted for a suit and I talked him out of spending more than the cruise itself to look good at one dinner. He was feeling desperate. We looked at JC Penney's, which was full of great suits for 60 year old men. In a moment of weakness, we went to Ross (I know, I know! I never find anything there that works out). Another no-go (the only suit they had was blue with gold pin stripes). Then, we headed to Target (mainly because it was in the same building and I have a huge sweet tooth). There, we found the perfect jacket (for only $60) to match his pants and shirt:
He is elated (and hot)... did I mention this was only $60!

In knitting related news, I started the hat over. I decided to do it right this time, now that I know (kind of) how to double knit. I feel this is looking much better already! I have a limited time line though, so am hoping I will have some time on vacation (the travel time should help) to finish the hat!

Krusty looks fantasic in his suit. Nice work, can't wait to see it in person. By the way - you guys don't have to go to the formal dinner if you don't want to - they will have a regular buffet set up too (sorry, we should have pointed that out before you went out and spent a bunch of money!). It will be fun though and I believe there will be endless lobster involved so hopefully he can eat his $60 in seafood.

Oh I can eat far more than $60 worth of seafood. Thank you for your patience and support in the suit shopping experience. Nice pants.
