I heart socks!

In case you haven't noticed, I love socks! I won a contest throught Secret Pal 8, and came home this afternoon to the below sock yarn and card at my door. It was very exciting.

This weekend, I had lots of time in the car to knit hubbie's socks. We went to visit my parents, and I finally learned how to use my sewing machine (thanks grandma!). I bought this fancy duvet cover, but it was too big (and it was not cheap people!). With grandma's help and guidance, I learned to create button holes and sew on buttons. It's the beautiful background to the sock photo. I also got to knit during the outdoor movie we went to see: Whale Rider. The rest of the family was not nearly as enthralled as I was, but I think this movie is the greatest movie this year (although it might have come out last year). Regardless. Go see it. It's great (a little slow though, so perfect for knitting socks while watching).

Of course, I don't want to gloss over our other exciting activities which included the waterslides (thank God no pictures, huh mom?), and blueberry picking. I forced hubbie and dad into slave labor to pick me 9 lbs. At $1.25 per pound, it was an incredible steal (especially considering how much I love blueberries!).
At the farm, I also got the recipe and inspiration to create sweet cucumber chips (like bread and butter pickles). Delicious!
